Our Story
It started with a simple observation: the people most passionate about teaching music were the most burdened by the tools meant to help them.
The Problem: A Symphony of Chaos
Every music teacher knows the feeling. A great lesson, a breakthrough moment—followed by the scramble to document notes, text a practice reminder, email an invoice, or share resources across multiple platforms. It's messy, time-consuming, and pulls focus away from what really matters: the music, and the connection between teacher and student.
This kind of admin overload doesn't just eat up time—it chips away at the creative energy that makes teaching meaningful in the first place. We've seen great educators burning out—not because they're tired of teaching, but because they're tired of managing everything around it.
The Spark: Where Music Meets Technology
Lessnz was born at the intersection of music education and thoughtful product design. When drummer and educator Kyle Swan noticed a lack of streamlined tools for lesson planning, resource sharing, and scheduling, he reached out to fellow teachers-only to confirm he wasn't alone. He brought the idea to a longtime friend Tony Cruz, a proven product leader who's overseen billion-dollar software portfolios and helped lead acquisition of businesses. Together, they set out to build the tool they wish existed—one that lightens the administrative load and puts the focus back on what really matters: teaching music.
